The corona pandemic is keeping the world on tenterhooks. Curfews, distance requirements, the instruction to washing your hands constantly. What may seem to us as exhausting and nerve wrecking is simply impossible for people with no permanent residence. People living on the streets in most cases are part of corona risk group anyways. So it is even more important for them to fulfill the measures.
The Hotel innDependence in Mainz decided to open its doors for homeless people during the corona pandemic. By now 30 guests arrived with many of them having a mixed feeling of relief and unbelief. It is strange to live in a somehow sheltered three-star hotel for a while. Social workers try finding solutions for after the crisis and doctors are taking care of medical concerns.
During (and not during) a global crisis like we have it now it is most important to not forget about our weakest members of society.
Thanks to all of you to letting be be a small part in a beautiful heartwarming project.
